A warm, friendly & helpful welcome (& not forgetting the goodies!), along with help & advice when needed.

A really comfortable home from home, with everything we could possibly need.

We have had an excellent week in an area we always enjoy, added to on this occasion by our stay in Forget-Me-Not.

Best wishes & thank you Carol & Graham

We’ve had a lovely time despite the wet & windy weather.

The cake, chocolates and wine were an unexpected and delicious surprise.

The Royal Oak, in Pett, did a wonderful Sunday lunch, thanks for the recommendation.

So many things to do and see here, we must come back for a fortnight!

Dear Carol and Graham

Thank you for having us in your cottage.

Due to the weather we’ve had a very relaxing week.

Despite the rain we were able to do most of the things we’d planned.

Your cottage is very nice, you’re very welcoming hosts and Winchelsea Beach typical English and that’s what we’re looking for in the UK.

So we’re going home very satisfied.

Hope to see you again.

6th Visit

Thank you for a wonderful home from home.

As always beautifully equipped, perfect location, lovely treats – the coffee cake was amazing.

We love it here for the variety of walks, closeness to the beach & timeless atmosphere, great for a reboot at the end of the summer.

Highly recommend the vineyard at Tillingham – restaurant was delicious.

Rae, in Rye, for the best coffee and the Snack Shack, at Dungeness, for fish & chips.  Breaded not battered, fresh from the sea!

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay we had in this nice and absolutely well equipped cottage.

Right from the start we felt very welcome, (the little treats – esp the cake – were very delicious!)

Since we visited with our 5 year old son we really appreciated that there were many board games and puzzles (we finished 3 of the 4 puzzles here).

And a big thank you to our hosts Carol & Graham – they were very friendly, helpful and always available.

We definitely recommend this place!

All the best to you!

Brilliant week as always.  – Rain on drive down but then sunshine all week – 24 degrees Friday!

Thunderstorm Friday evening was spectacular.

Lovely walks – still found new paths after this, our 5th visit to you.

New Inn (Winchelsea Town) served us well for dinners & Beach Cafe for coffees.

Great Dixter was a lovely day too – Rye Harbour walks and Camber Castle to Rye still favourites.

Thanks for cake and wine!

From Luci’s Google Review

We’ve had the most perfect stay at Forget Me Not.

The bungalow is in a great location for peace and quiet, while being close enough to the coast to explore the many beaches in the area.

The bungalow is well equipped, comfortable and incredibly clean.

The kitchen is kitted out for keen cooks, you can enjoy games, books and a selection of films.

There are USB charging points and a couple of hair dryers!

You’ll even receive some welcome treats!

Plenty of local amenities close by and Carol and Graham are a wealth of knowledge on the local area.

You are in safe hands with such lovely hosts who will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is one to remember!

Thank you Carol and Graham – we truly appreciate your efforts and attention to detail.

We loved staying at this cosy cottage, lovingly decorated in the ocean/beach style.

It was a perfect, quiet place with our 3 year old.

The surroundings are beautiful, and there is so much to do in the area.

We felt really welcome and at ease because of the warm and helpful contact with you, Graham & Carol.  Thank you so much!

In English you’d say the place is like a “hidden gem”.  But we’d like to use the translation from a Dutch saying – this place is a “real pearl” – befitting the ocean theme of FMN 🙂

We wish you all the best!!

Spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped (there is nothing I can think of that isn’t provided), a lovely quiet location in walking distance to pretty, pebbly beach and a short drive from the gorgeous, historic town of Rye.

We spent two days on sandy, Camber Sands beach, which the children loved.

We arrived with an early shuttle and were welcomed by Carol on the first occasion, straight from the coast without any stops.  With a pair of nice treats – cake, chocolate sweets and a bottle of white wine, which we only discovered later.  We soon settled.  Haven’t seen Carol the rest of the week because she was a busy a we were.  We met Graham when he was repairing the fence, and also appeared to have busy schedule, mainly playing bowls, I believe.  We have had a wonderful time in this very nice and quiet house.  We shall recommend it to others.  Our daughter, Ester, booked it after we did, but came with her family shortly before us.  See last entry.  We never told her we booked it though.  Thanks, and cheers.  Henk.  Henk & Anja, Tilbury, The Netherlands  7 to 14 May 2022

Great hosts!  Thank you for all our super treats.  We have had a lovely relaxing week with beautiful weather.  The walks along the beach to Rye Harbour were very scenic and back through the marshes.  Also good to walk in Rye itself.   Great walking tour at 11 am called Rye History Walks, which I highly recommend, 3 hours for £10!  Delicious food at Rye Harbour Pub (Greek Souvlaki especially) and at Winchelsea – New Inn.   Battle (1066) Abbey well worth a visit and audio tour really brings it to life.  Also Great Dixter Garden & House – recommend lunch, but eat early – sells out quickly.   Evelyn & Peter, Nottingham 11 – 18 September 2021

We’ve heard from a guest who stayed last year, Andrea said ‘last year we have spent our holidays in your house and we felt comfortable.  Now we have a question. We have never slept better than in your bed. Would you please be so kind and tell us which kind of bed it is, for ex. a box spring bed or so and maybe where you have bought it because we want to buy such a bed for us in Germany.  I would be pleased if you would answer me. Thank you.  Your house was absolutely clean and cosy.  That was very important for us.  The kitchen equipment was excellent.   The location was very nice and calm environment.  All was perfect.  We do not know when but we come back again.’

Andrea & family, Moenchengladbach, Germany, 28 July 2018 – 11 August 2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with all of its home comforts.  We visited the castles of Dover, Walmer and Deal, we walked the coastal path from Birling Gap to Beachy Head & got fabulous views of the Seven Sisters.  We love the town of Rye and the peacefulness of Dungeness.  And what’s more, it’s stayed fine!  We’ve had a fabulous week and thoroughly appreciate how homely and comfortable ‘Forget Me Not’ is.  The pumkin was very successful as we had two lots of trick or treaters.  Thanks for all the frills, including the delicious lemon drizzle cake.

Normally we go to Majorca but with Emmy being 8 months pregnant we had to do something different.  We were lucky enough to chance on ‘Forget-me-Not’.  It was a great find, a beautifully equipped bungalow with excellent local walks that we had no idea about before we got here.  We had a lovely week and even stayed an extra night.  On leaving we feel ready for the baby, not long to go now!

Stephen

Enjoyed a lovely, relaxing & very comfortable 8 night stay at ‘Forget Me Not’.  We both noticed and felt the love & care that had gone into the cottage, including: the welcome food items, the amazingly equipped kitchen and the DVD & book selection, we’re hooked on Happy Valley & will have to buy Series 2!  Situated in a great area too for a variety of beach & Rye Nature Reserve walks.  Rye is also worth a visit and would recommend ‘Marinos’ fish & chip bar, restaurant.  Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.  As Stephen said we are returning feeling well rested and ready for all things ‘birth & baby’ related.

Another lovely week here!  Managed very long walks in the beautiful sunny weather.  There’s great cliff top walk to Hastings & many different footpath routes to Rye and Camber Sands.  Fish & chips at the Ship Inn at Rye is the best there is and curry night at the New Inn, Winchelsea was great.  The nature reserve is so lovely and easy to spend the whole day wandering, stopping for a pint at the William the Conqueror at Rye Harbour!  Thanks Graham & Carol, beautiful bungalow & great cake.  Thank you – we will be back!

Our first visit to this part of the South Coast and despite some rather unseasonable weather (the ducks were loving it), we managed to stay dry-ish and explore the area.  Winchelsea was really interesting, we didn’t manage the cellars; maybe next time.  We enjoyed visiting Sissinghurst and Great Dixter even if they were looking a bit windswept.   A lovely holiday home, thank you.  (And thanks for the delicious cake and wine!)

We’ve really enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach every evening and the weather has been perfect.  Forget Me Not has been a good base – Rye is worth a visit as is Battle Abbey and Dungeness Lighthouse.  Marino’s Fish & Chips in Rye v. good.

Great accommodation situated in a perfect location enabling one to visit many interesting places in East Sussex & Kent.  We enjoyed our walks, especially over the Nature Reserve to Rye & exploring Rye Town – Cobblestones Cafe very good.  Wonderful places to visit within an hours drive, Scotney Castle & Gardens being a favourite.  A trip to Romney Hythe & Dymchurch steam train down to Dungeness is an eye opener.  Desolate, quiet & great ambience (especially if you like nature). Blue skies every day, perfect sunny weather all week.  Thank you for the treats.  A thoroughly happy, relaxing holiday.  P.S. Baby seagulls too!!

Cottage as beautiful as ever – wonderful welcome from Carol and Graham and the very tasty homemade cake.  We feel so at home at Forget Me Not and it has everything one needs.  Although the weather was wet and windy we still got out to explore.  We went to the ballet in Rye one evening, which was excellent.  Off home again but we will be back.  Thank you for everything.  Best Wishes.

Forget Me Not is by far the best holiday home we’ve stayed in.  The hosts have put in so much time and thought into equipping and dressing the house.  Camber Castle, yesterday, proved a gentle 90 minute amble there and back.  The peace and relaxation is such a tonic.  The cake and bottle of wine were such a thoughtful touch on our arrival.  We only wish we were here longer.  Thank you Carol & Graham.

We made a few car trips to Rye, Winchelsea and Pett Level, but otherwise great walks along the beach: west to the cafe and east to the Mary Stanford Lifeboat House. We had a nice Easter roast at The Ship and bought bread at the shop, fresh fish from Suttons and other shopping at the Coop. We had plenty of rest, with some rainy days relaxing in the conservatory. We’ve had a wonderful time at Forget me not. We are from Kent so familiar with Rye but not much else in this area. It’s been a real eye opener for us, we’ve walked miles and seen some of the most beautiful countryside. Local hospitality has been exceptional too, A lovely accommodation in a lovely area. thank you also for our lovely welcome cake and wine. These went down very well indeed!

Thank you very much for the very nice and welcoming accomodation.  Everything was just perfect!  We will definitely pass the word around about this location to our friends.  Thank you again.  All the best.

We wanted to thank you for the wonderful, and above all very comfortable cottage.  Everything is so tastefully furnished.  Especially the beds, so cushy we almost forgot to get up!  The other equipment, e.g. the kitchen, leaves nothing to be desired. Thanks for the welcome package, especially the cake was delicious! We are really very satisfied.

The house was lovely and very peaceful which was just what we needed.  I forgot to say thank you for the cake – it was delicious!

I have been lucky enough to be the first guest to stay at Forget-Me-Not. The owners have thoughtfully provided everything for their guests comfort and convenience. Wonderfully comfortable beds, soft fluffy towels, in fact everything to make a perfect home (away from home) holiday. Thank you so much.
