Had a lovely stay at Forget Me Not Cottage. Our first time to this part of the country. Bed was so comfortable, cake was yummy! Thanks. So peaceful round here, hope to return in the near future. Gill & Paul, Leicester, 16 to 23 October 2021
Thank you for everything you have provided in Forget Me Not cottage. We had absolutely everything we needed for a delightful week in this beautiful corner of Sussex – definitely the best cottage we have stayed in! Special thanks for the delightful welcome treats and the personal welcome when we arrived. We’ve felt wonderfully relaxed in this lovely quiet location and your beds are just so comfortable. We very much hope we can return for another week in 2022. Heather & Dave, Suffolk, 9 – 16 October 2021
Thank you for your welcome, and for all the lovely treats! Lemon drizzle cake absolutely delicious! Forget Me Not is superbly equipped – you’ve thought of everything to make your guests feel comfortable and at home. Much appreciated. We’ve had a wonderful week exploring the fascinating coastal areas and especially Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Lots more to explore – hope to be back! Thank you! Christine & Dave, Wells, Somerset 2 – 9 October 2021
“Thank you” for the lovely cake, wine, milk & tea, a nice surprise! Forget Me Not is simply wonderful – clean, comfy and has everything you need. We recommend Leeds, Bodiam Castles, Battle, Bexhill Museum and old Hastings. Good food can be found at the New Inn (Winchelsea), Simply Italian, Ambrette Kitchen in Rye ….. there are a lot more there too! There are beautiful old buildings at Winchelsea and Rye. We had a wonderful week here and hope to return. Thanks again Carol & Graham! Chris & Debs Leicestershire, 25 September to 2 October 2021
Great hosts! Thank you for all our super treats. We have had a lovely relaxing week with beautiful weather. The walks along the beach to Rye Harbour were very scenic and back through the marshes. Also good to walk in Rye itself. Great walking tour at 11 am called Rye History Walks, which I highly recommend, 3 hours for £10! Delicious food at Rye Harbour Pub (Greek Souvlaki especially) and at Winchelsea – New Inn. Battle (1066) Abbey well worth a visit and audio tour really brings it to life. Also Great Dixter Garden & House – recommend lunch, but eat early – sells out quickly. Evelyn & Peter, Nottingham 11 – 18 September 2021
Third time guests from Clacton on Sea Another wonderful week here, cottage amazing as always. We had ‘boiling hot’ weather! 25/26 degrees! Wonderful for walks & lunchtime pints, packed lunch somewhere solitary and evening meals out at the New Inn, only 30 minutes walk away, great food too! Found a new walk, (thanks Carol), to Icklesham, across fields and found the Queens Head Inn there! 1066 walks are great, well signposted. Thanks for wine, scones and chocs Carol & Graham. We will return! Always so much to see! Love from us both xx Julie & David 4/9/21 to 11/9/21
Third time guests from Northampton Had another lovely week at Forget Me Not cottage. Weather pretty good too. Found some parts of Rye that we hadn’t seen before including Lamb House, National Trust. Thanks Carol & Graham for the opportunity. Bob, Alison, Ben, Jess 21/8/21 to 28/8/21

Betty & Roy Suffolk 8 – 11 June 2021
We found this little gem on Kent & Sussex Cottages, we hadn’t all been together for over 6 months (due to Covid pandemic) and this was the perfect place for us all to relax. The beds were so comfortable we never wanted to get up. Loved the conservatory. A very warm and homely feel to the place. Carol & Graham were on hand whenever needed and left a beautiful cake and bottle of red on arrival. We will definitely return.

We have really enjoyed staying in ‘Forget-Me-Not’. A super comfortable bungalow, perfect location, many walks on the quiet beach of the nature reserve. The kids have really enjoyed it here. Carol & Graham have been amazing hosts (and the cake on arrival was delicious & unexpected treat). Would highly recommend to our friends/family out of area to stay here! Thank you xxxx
Carina, Alun & family, Rye, East Sussex. July 2020
We’ve heard from a guest who stayed last year, Andrea said ‘last year we have spent our holidays in your house and we felt comfortable. Now we have a question. We have never slept better than in your bed. Would you please be so kind and tell us which kind of bed it is, for ex. a box spring bed or so and maybe where you have bought it because we want to buy such a bed for us in Germany. I would be pleased if you would answer me. Thank you. Your house was absolutely clean and cosy. That was very important for us. The kitchen equipment was excellent. The location was very nice and calm environment. All was perfect. We do not know when but we come back again.’
Andrea & family, Moenchengladbach, Germany, 28 July 2018 – 11 August 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with all of its home comforts. We visited the castles of Dover, Walmer and Deal, we walked the coastal path from Birling Gap to Beachy Head & got fabulous views of the Seven Sisters. We love the town of Rye and the peacefulness of Dungeness. And what’s more, it’s stayed fine! We’ve had a fabulous week and thoroughly appreciate how homely and comfortable ‘Forget Me Not’ is. The pumkin was very successful as we had two lots of trick or treaters. Thanks for all the frills, including the delicious lemon drizzle cake.
Carole, Martin & Amy, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. 26 October – 2 November 2019
Excellent place to stay – enjoyed seeing Derek Jarman’s cottage & garden at Dungeness & open art studios there; Great Dixter House & Gardens; Bodiam Castle; walk from here to Rye Harbour & back via Camber Castle; Rye model historical narration; Winchelsea.
Anthony & Mary, Hampshire 2 – 5 October 2019
Normally we go to Majorca but with Emmy being 8 months pregnant we had to do something different. We were lucky enough to chance on ‘Forget-me-Not’. It was a great find, a beautifully equipped bungalow with excellent local walks that we had no idea about before we got here. We had a lovely week and even stayed an extra night. On leaving we feel ready for the baby, not long to go now!
Enjoyed a lovely, relaxing & very comfortable 8 night stay at ‘Forget Me Not’. We both noticed and felt the love & care that had gone into the cottage, including: the welcome food items, the amazingly equipped kitchen and the DVD & book selection, we’re hooked on Happy Valley & will have to buy Series 2! Situated in a great area too for a variety of beach & Rye Nature Reserve walks. Rye is also worth a visit and would recommend ‘Marinos’ fish & chip bar, restaurant. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. As Stephen said we are returning feeling well rested and ready for all things ‘birth & baby’ related.
Emmy & Stephen (& baby on the way), Epsom, Surrey 21 – 29 September 2019
Another lovely week here! Managed very long walks in the beautiful sunny weather. There’s great cliff top walk to Hastings & many different footpath routes to Rye and Camber Sands. Fish & chips at the Ship Inn at Rye is the best there is and curry night at the New Inn, Winchelsea was great. The nature reserve is so lovely and easy to spend the whole day wandering, stopping for a pint at the William the Conqueror at Rye Harbour! Thanks Graham & Carol, beautiful bungalow & great cake. Thank you – we will be back!
Julie & David, Clacton on Sea, 14 – 21 September 2019
Dear Carol & Graham. Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful bungalow. All so welcoming – all so perfect. Also thank you for the goodies – wonderful cake! Hope to see you again. Will not forget ‘Forget-me-not’.

Absolutely lovely holiday cottage, we have all had a great wees holiday, very restful and peaceful. Thanks for the cake, wine and well equipped and comfortable cottage.
Colin, Wendy, Hannah & Alex, London 17 – 24 August 2019
Our first visit to this part of the South Coast and despite some rather unseasonable weather (the ducks were loving it), we managed to stay dry-ish and explore the area. Winchelsea was really interesting, we didn’t manage the cellars; maybe next time. We enjoyed visiting Sissinghurst and Great Dixter even if they were looking a bit windswept. A lovely holiday home, thank you. (And thanks for the delicious cake and wine!)
Mary, Ginny & Vanessa Reading & Kingston 10 – 17 August 2019
Enjoyed our stay very much. Bungalow very clean and comfortable & so lovely with everything being colour coordinated. Thank you for the provisions, especially the unexpected treat & the homemade cake! Visited plenty of places such as Herstmonceux Observatory, Leeds Castle, Bodiam Castle, Dungeness and evening walks on the beach. Thanks again.

Family from Germany, 20 July 2019
We’ve really enjoyed being able to walk down to the beach every evening and the weather has been perfect. Forget Me Not has been a good base – Rye is worth a visit as is Battle Abbey and Dungeness Lighthouse. Marino’s Fish & Chips in Rye v. good.
Helen, Dave, Tim & Stan, Cambridge 13 July 2019
Great accommodation situated in a perfect location enabling one to visit many interesting places in East Sussex & Kent. We enjoyed our walks, especially over the Nature Reserve to Rye & exploring Rye Town – Cobblestones Cafe very good. Wonderful places to visit within an hours drive, Scotney Castle & Gardens being a favourite. A trip to Romney Hythe & Dymchurch steam train down to Dungeness is an eye opener. Desolate, quiet & great ambience (especially if you like nature). Blue skies every day, perfect sunny weather all week. Thank you for the treats. A thoroughly happy, relaxing holiday. P.S. Baby seagulls too!!
Teresa & Dennis, Staffordshire 6 July 2019

Cottage as beautiful as ever – wonderful welcome from Carol and Graham and the very tasty homemade cake. We feel so at home at Forget Me Not and it has everything one needs. Although the weather was wet and windy we still got out to explore. We went to the ballet in Rye one evening, which was excellent. Off home again but we will be back. Thank you for everything. Best Wishes.
Betty & Roy, Suffolk 14 June 2019
Forget Me Not is by far the best holiday home we’ve stayed in. The hosts have put in so much time and thought into equipping and dressing the house. Camber Castle, yesterday, proved a gentle 90 minute amble there and back. The peace and relaxation is such a tonic. The cake and bottle of wine were such a thoughtful touch on our arrival. We only wish we were here longer. Thank you Carol & Graham.
Carol & Ken, East Sussex 10 June 2019
Group of four Icelanders – we loved every minute of our stay in the lovely house.

We had a lovely Easter break in this delightful home. We made a few car trips to Rye, Winchelsea and Pett Level, but otherwise great walks along the beach: west to the cafe and east to the Mary Stanford Lifeboat House. We had a nice Easter roast at The Ship and bought bread at the shop, fresh fish from Suttons and other shopping at the Coop. We had plenty of rest, with some rainy days relaxing in the conservatory. Thank you for the welcome pack, wine and delicious cake.
